Luckily, some of the latest recall news doesn’t pertain to the vehicles at Aiken Chevrolet Dealers, but there is a good chance you could find one of the affected models in their used car inventory. For the past ten years’ worth of vehicles, Ford Motor Company is recalling several of their models. While you probably can get them fixed at Master Buick GMC Repair, if you contact Ford customer service they will direct you where to go to seek service. The problem is related to a leaky cruise control switch that could catch on fire. The truly bizarre thing in this recall is that the vehicle could spontaneously catch fire, even if the vehicle is parked and unattended! When the cruise control switch leaks, the fluid drips into the antilock brake systems. Once there, it is only a matter of time before the vehicle will burst into flames. It has happened in the past, and Ford continues to urge people to check the VIN of their particular Ford to see if it has been repaired or not. As of right now, out of 14 million vehicles that were part of the recalls, there are still 8.4 million out on the roads driving today that still haven’t been serviced.
The specific models include the larger vehicles; E Series, F Series, Rangers, Explorers, and Windstars. The affected model years range from 1992 up until 2003, so you will want to be overly cautious. This is good advice for anyone who has purchased a used car because you have no way of knowing for sure whether a vehicle has been repaired from a recall or not. That is the problem Ford is encountering right now. People have bought these older model vehicles for a very inexpensive price, and they don’t even think that a recall might still be in effect.
